Cotton Mixed at Midday

Front month cotton futures are trading with losses of 13 to 33 points. The thin October contracts are 53 points in the black as the market’s outlier.

The Commitment of Traders report, with data from the close on 4/27, showed managed money was 58,668 contracts net long in cotton. Commercials had added 14,883 new shorts over that week, extending their net short in cotton to 142,755 contracts.

The 4/30 Cotlook A index was down by another 3 cents to 91.90 cents/lb. The AWP for cotton for the week is 73.71 cents/lb.     

Jul 21 Cotton  is at 87.75, down 33 points,

Oct 21 Cotton  is at 87, up 53 points,

Dec 21 Cotton  is at 84.85, down 21 points
