Cotton Down 3 to 6 Points Ahead of USDA Export Sales Release

Cotton futures are 3 to 6 points lower this morning. USDA will release updated Export Sales data at 7:30 AM CST. Front month cotton futures closed the midweek session with gains of 51 to 57 points. October ’21 futures, with just 5 contracts of OI, were only 36 points stronger at the close. The national average cash cotton price from cmdtyView was 68.05 cents yesterday. USDA’s Daily Spot Quotations report showed 14,595 bales were sold at spot on 11/18, mostly in W. Texas. The average selling price was 66.79 cents. The Cotlook A index jumped 135 points higher on 11/17 back up to 77.80 c/lb. This week’s AWP for cotton is 56.71 cents/lb.
